MAMBILA HYDROELECTRIC POWER PROJECT LOCAL CONTENT YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND SKILLS ACQUISITION TRAINING PROGRAMME

APPLICATIONS ARE HEREBY INVITED FROM SUITABLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR ADMISSION INTO ANY OF THE MAMBILLA HYDROELECTRIC POWER PROJECT LOCAL CONTENT YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND SKILLS ACQUISITION TRAINING PROGRAMME

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Power, the owners of Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project with National power Training Institute of Nigeria are arranging a training targeting the Nigerian Youth under the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project Local Content Youth Empowerment and skills Acquisition Programme

The Mambilla hydropower project is a 3.05GW hydroelectric infrastructure being developed on the Dongo River near Baruf, in Kakara Village of Taraba State, Nigeria. The project is being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Power and private investors. When fully operational the project will be the country’s biggest power plant, producing approximately 4.7 billion kWh of electricity a year.

The project is estimated to cost $5.8bn and will generate up to 50,000 local jobs during the construction phase. The Project Development Committee’s local content thematic group in conjunction with Federal Ministry of Power and the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) has the vision and strategic plan to empower about 20,000 youths (age 18-35) across the country to take advantage of the opportunities the project presents through requisite skills acquisition training.

The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) was established in 2009 as an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), operating under the aegis of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing (FMP).

The Institute has the mandate for human capital development, coordinating top notch trainings and conducting research & development activities in the global energy environment. NAPTIN is an intellectual and innovative hub in the world of energy technology with its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja and operates eight (8) Regional Training Centres around the country.

MAMBILA HYDROELECTRIC POWER PROJECT LOCAL CONTENT YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND SKILLS ACQUISITION TRAINING PROGRAMME

The trainings are designed to provide a platform to educate individuals on skills that can help create wealth, taking into cognisance the broad policy framework of the Federal Government of Nigeria to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

Participants will be trained to foster better-informed skill acquisition and produce more creative opportunities that will be relevant to the MHEPP development phase and after hence, the skills acquisition and empowerment trainings are built on active, experimental and practical learning sessions designed to equip the Nigerian youth of with requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes in some basic power competencies to make them employable and or self-dependant. The training will focus on:

  • Electrical House Wiring
  • ICT Essentials
  • Plumbing and Pipefitting for Plants & Buildings
  • Catering Management
  • Masonry and Bricklaying

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admissions are open to all holders of WAEC/SSCE/NECO/OND/NCE and equivalent qualifications as mentioned in the above skills for admission into the Mambila Hydroelectric Power Project Local Content Youth Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Training Programme.

COURSE DURATION

The programme will take 4 weeks (hands-on training) to empower participants with knowledge and skills required for entrepreneurship.

DESIGN & BUILD

The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) has received funds from Agence Française de Développement ("AFD") toward the cost of “Enhancing Vocational Training Delivery for the Power Sector in Nigeria”, and it intends to apply part of the funds to payments under the contract: Design & Build of the Training Centre in their Abuja HQ. The Employer intends to initially select a maximum of 6 firms for the Design & Build of Workshops and an Accommodation Hostel. It is expected
that invitations for bid will be made in November 2020.

Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (address below) during 9:00am -4;00pm WAT.

A complete set of the Initial Selection Documents in English may be obtained by interested Applicants.
Successful bidders that qualify to proceed to the Request for Proposal (RfP) stage may be required to pay a non-refundable fee of NGN150,000 or US dollars $395 The method of payment will be Bank Draft in favour of National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN).
Applications for initial selection should be submitted in clearly marked envelopes and delivered to the address below by 12 noon on 14th January, 2021. Late applications will not be accepted.

ENHANCING VOCATIONAL TRAINING DELIVERY FOR THE POWER SECTOR IN NIGERIA
CONSULTING SERVICES

 

The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria – NAPTIN, through the Federal Government of Nigeria, has received a grant from the European Union (EU) as a blend to the French Development Agency (AFD) financed project on “Enhancing vocational training delivery for the power sector in Nigeria”, and intends to use the funds thereof for services of
experienced expert consultants with adequate references.


Above project is constituted by three inter-linked and dependent components:
1) Product Development, i.e. creation of a world-class vocational training program.
2) Development of the necessary support infrastructure, i.e. of facilities and their equipment.
3) Corporate Development, i.e. creation of the necessary Corporate Governance and management structure to support the scope of the program.
The Services of the consultant for the present request shall consist of a residential Technical Assistance for component 3:
